DepEd eyes supportive, healthy school via Oplan Kalusugan

The Department of Education (DepEd) highlighted its flagship programs under the Oplan Kalusugan sa DepEd (OKD) during the One Health Week celebration today in Tagaytay City.

The event, themed “OK sa DepEd ang Eskwelahang Healthy,” encouraged schools to broaden the scope of OKD’s well-being, welfare, and learner support initiatives.

A key moment of the event was the turnover of musical instruments from the Chinese Embassy, which will enhance students’ co-curricular activities.

DepEd officials were joined by Mr. Zhou Yong, Political Counselor of the People’s Republic of China, and Cavite Representatives Aniela Bianca Tolentino and Atty. Roy Loyola.

The initiative, explained

“OK sa DepEd ang Eskwelahang Healthy” is an initiative of DepEd, aimed at promoting the health and well-being of students, teachers, and school communities. This program is part of the broader Oplan Kalusugan sa DepEd (OKD), which focuses on improving physical health, mental well-being, and overall welfare within schools.

The initiative encourages schools to implement and expand programs that support the health and wellness of learners, such as promoting good nutrition, physical activities, mental health awareness, and providing access to healthcare services.

The goal is to create a supportive and healthy school environment that helps students thrive academically and personally.
