But what happens when an 11-year-old creates a contract with his parents?
A Facebook post by journalist “Ted Ayeng” went viral, showcasing the impressive initiative of his son “Luke,” an elementary school student, who drafted his own “device usage contract.”
Initially, Ted’s wife assumed Luke was simply working on a school assignment, but upon closer inspection, it turned out to be an actual contract.
Luke reportedly created the agreement after his mother confiscated his gadgets to ensure he focused on studying and preparing for his exams.
“Earlier, this week, gi-embargo sa mother ang tanang gadgets kay exam week lagi. Nintendo, laptop ug cellphone. Ingon siya: “Way gadgets. Bantay og mousos imong grado ha. Way gadgets! (Earlier this week, the mother embargoed all gadgets because it’s exam week again. Nintendo, laptop, and cellphone. She said: ‘No gadgets. Make sure to watch over your grades. No gadgets!’),” he said.
“What shocked and amazed me is that he was making that contract all alone without no one or nothing to copy or refer to considering nga gi-embargo ang tanang possible reference niya!” dagdag pa ni Ted. His realizations, “We should not underestimate our children now. They know more about their rights and make use of legal means if they think they need to!”

Ted further explained that Luke created the contract entirely on his own, without the use of any tools, gadgets, or internet access, as his devices had been confiscated to help him concentrate on his studies. Netizens were impressed by Luke’s initiative, with some commenting that he shows great potential for a future in law, even at such a young age.
