A college graduate from Saint Louis University in Baguio City captured admiration online after her mother gifted her a unique bouquet containing Php150,000 in cash instead of flowers.

Roselyn Gunnawa, hailing from Kalinga, proudly shared a photo of herself holding the cash bouquet after her graduation ceremony.

However, beyond the impressive gift lies a heartfelt story behind Gunnawa’s radiant smile.

On January 26, 2024, she earned her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, majoring in Marketing Management with a specialization in Business Analytics.

In a Facebook post on the same day, Gunnawa expressed her gratitude to everyone who supported her journey. She dedicated her achievement to her parents, particularly her late father, who passed away in April 2022. Though he was not there to see her graduate, she honored his memory in this significant milestone.

While the thoughtful gesture brought joy, it was also a bittersweet moment for the graduate. She expressed deep longing for her late father, wishing he could have shared in her milestone. Despite the absence, she honored his memory and acknowledged the sacrifices her parents made for her success.

The touching story resonates with many, highlighting the love and dedication parents pour into their children’s dreams.

“This milestone is a testament that with determination and hardwork, coupled with His grace and a strong support system, everything is possible,” she said.

“To Papa, it pains me that you’re not physically with me to celebrate this milestone in my life but deep in my heart, I know that wherever you are, you are smiling proudly and clapping loudly- for your little girl has finally gotten her diploma. I owe this comfortable life to you and I owe it to myself to strive even harder to ensure that I will have the life I had always talked about with you.”

She conveyed heartfelt appreciation to her mother, noting that even though she didn’t graduate with honors, the thoughtful gift still held great significance. She also shared her intention to use it wisely and practically.

“To Mama, I genuinely do not know what good I have done in the past to deserve someone like you to call my mom. You make everything easy, mom. As the white hairs on your head and the wrinkles on your forehead become more visible each day, my desire to give you the world, because that’s what you deserve, just flourishes,” she said.
