Education Secretary Sonny Angara called on education stakeholders to work together on implementing transformative reforms aimed at empowering Filipino learners during the 2024 Education Week celebration of DepEd Region III, held at the Baler Convention Center in Aurora.
“As constituents of the Department of Education, we know that educational excellence is a collective journey. Lahat po tayo rito [ay] may contribution. Each of us has a crucial contribution to molding the future of our students,” Secretary Angara said, according to DepEd Philippines’ report.

“Transformative education is not just the act of teaching. It is creating a culture, a culture which engenders growth, collaboration, and empowerment among educators and learners,” Sec. Angara noted.
Angara reaffirmed the agency’s dedication to tackling critical issues, including enhancing school resources, improving teacher welfare and professional development, and addressing socio-economic barriers like malnutrition and poverty that hinder student learning.
Angara also commended the hard work of DepEd personnel, stating, “You are working tirelessly for better learning outcomes and teacher welfare. You deserve every centavo.”

The recent summit showcased various activities such as learner performances, school networking booths featuring best practices and innovations, consultative assemblies, mental health and resiliency talks, a sports festival, a youth jam, heritage tours, and outreach programs.
Additionally, Angara praised DepEd Region III for successfully organizing the event, highlighting Central Luzon’s commitment to building partnerships and providing transformative educational opportunities for Filipino learners.
