As the saying goes, don’t discard items you no longer find useful if they might still serve others.
A father from Valenzuela City warmed netizens’ hearts by donating his family’s books to the city library, as his children had completed their studies and no longer needed them.
In a Facebook post by the Valenzuela City Library last September 20, 2023, a photo shows the donor, Vicente C. Alfonso Jr. from Barangay Karuhatan, standing with the donated books, which remain available for readers who can benefit from them.

In an interview, Vincent shared that since his children have all completed their college studies, he decided to donate the unused books, which had been on display at home, to the city library.
“All my children have graduated,” he said, as quoted in the caption.
“I thought of donating these books so others can benefit from them.”
The Valenzuela City Library expressed their gratitude to Vincent and encouraged residents to support their library.
“Thank you, Sir! Let’s build the Library together!”

“Valenzuela City Library (ValACE) is continuously accepting donations,” they added.
Valenzuela City Library is accepting different kinds of books such as general works, references, and trade books (i.e. children’s books, young adult literature, travel and leisure, recipe books, atlas, dictionaries, etc.).
They would also love to have materials on timeless topics (i.e. history, literature, architecture, the arts, management, leadership, etc.).
“We are hoping that the books and other resources you will donate are in good condition. The library accepts both new and pre-loved books. The pages should be clean, and the binding must be intact,” the management stated.
Books are valuable sources of information, offering insights on a wide range of topics—from history and science to culture and philosophy. They serve as repositories of knowledge, helping us understand complex concepts, historical events, and the world around us.
