Beliving one’s status in life is not a barrier to helping others, a Grade 9 helped 200+ families.

Jarred did wonders through an act of kindness that started by purchasing necessities using his P3,000 scholarship allowance, and distributed it to people in his community.

Jarred Gaviola, then 15 years old, proved that kindness and helping those in need are not measured by age, nor do they require a high status in life.

At a young age, the Grade 9 student (typically around 13-14 years old) decided to distribute his ₱3,000 scholarship allowance to people in his community.

Known as a kind and diligent student, he used the money he received to buy packets of milk and coffee for his planned mission.

To expand his efforts, he organized a donation drive and eventually raised enough funds to purchase additional supplies such as milk, coffee, biscuits, rice, and other necessities.

This wasn’t the first time Jarred extended help to others.

Because of his genuine efforts, many individuals volunteered and contributed to ensure the success of his aid distribution.

Jarred was able to assist 200 families from Brgy. Tunasan and Brgy. Bayanan, as well as utility and canteen workers at his school, Muntinlupa Science High School.

One’s status in life, not barrier to helping others

In an interview, Jarred stated that he believes one’s status in life is not a barrier to helping others, especially during a pandemic.

Jarred shared that he couldn’t bear seeing people go hungry on the streets, which is why he decided to use the allowance he received as a scholar of the local government.

“Para po sa akin, ang edad at estado sa buhay ay hindi po dahilan para di makatulong sa kapwa,” he said.

“It started from my own scholarship allowance.”

“Because for me, there are many people who are hungry and needing food. They need more care as time goes by.”

“I used my scholarship allowance given by the local government to buy these milk packs and coffee sachets.”

“And after that i have decided to open my own donation drive so that I can help more people.”

“I am a proud scholar of Muntinlupa.”
