There’s a unique joy for a child who, after finishing their studies and starting a career, reaches the point where they can support their parents—not out of duty, but willingly and with love.

Here in the Philippines, it has become customary for children to show gratitude to their parents as a way of giving back for the sacrifices and support they have provided for their life and education.

Netizens were moved by a video report from The Philippine Star featuring a newly graduated nurse who dedicated his entire salary to his beloved mother.

Rather than spending the money on himself, he chose to give it all to her.

In the viral video, Gabriel excitedly hands a white envelope containing his full salary to his mother, Mommy Adora, in the laundry area. The joy on her face was unmistakable as she saw the hard-earned money her son worked for.

The heartwarming twist came when Mommy Adora revealed she planned to return the salary to Gabriel, acknowledging the effort he put into earning it.

“Tatanggapin ko ‘to kasi unang sahod mo ‘to, pero ibabalik ko ‘to sa ‘yo kasi pinaghirapan mo ‘to,” she said.

“So ito, iingatan mo ‘tong pera mo,” Mommy Adora insisted.

Gabriel became emotional, especially when his mother advised him to learn how to save and manage his salary wisely.

In an interview, Gabriel shared that he immediately withdrew the ₱16,000 he earned from the bank, intending to give it to his mother as a gesture of gratitude for all her sacrifices for his education.

He recalled witnessing the hard work and dedication his mother poured into raising him and his siblings after separating from their father. Gabriel vowed to do everything in his power to support his mother and ensure she lives a comfortable life, just as she selflessly provided for them as a single parent.
