“You are a woman, not just a woman”

“A woman with a voice is, by definition, a strong woman.” – Melinda French Gates.

It is inherent in us Filipinos to have practices and even laws in place to ensure respect and equality for women, who are on par with men. Many programs have been launched, including the celebration of Women’s Month in March.

As they say, it is important to have a voice so that one doesn’t remain silent, like a bird trapped in a cage. One such program that draws attention to the gender disparity between women and men is “Fund 4 Good.”

Launched by Olivia Rodrigo, a renowned and popular singer of today, it was a pleasant surprise for her supporters during one of her major events, the GUTS World Tour; Manila Silver Star Show. Through this, she aims to elevate the respect and perception of women, just like that of men.

Olivia Rodrigo’s concert experience is a powerful and emotional journey through her music, marked by raw vulnerability and energy. As one of the biggest pop stars of her generation, her live performances have become highly anticipated events for fans, offering a chance to experience her chart-topping hits in an intimate setting.

Known for her heartfelt lyrics, which often explore themes of heartbreak, self-discovery, and personal growth, Rodrigo’s concerts allow her to connect deeply with her audience, creating an atmosphere where fans feel like they are part of her story. Her stage presence is magnetic, effortlessly drawing the crowd into every song, from the angsty anthems to the more reflective ballads.

The setlist for an Olivia Rodrigo concert typically features songs from her debut album, SOUR, as well as select tracks from her sophomore work, Guts. Hits like “drivers license,” “good 4 u,” and “deja vu” are staples of her performances, with each one evoking a wave of emotions from the audience.

These tracks, which gained massive popularity for their deeply personal and relatable lyrics, are often met with loud sing-alongs, creating an electrifying atmosphere. Rodrigo’s ability to make her audience feel the intensity of every lyric is a hallmark of her live shows, as she brings raw emotion to every performance, making each one feel unique.

Beyond the music, Olivia’s concerts are known for their production quality, featuring dynamic lighting and visuals that complement the emotional tone of her songs. During moments of intense emotion, the lighting can shift to reflect the mood—dark and moody for the more introspective songs, and bright and vibrant for her upbeat tracks. This visual storytelling, combined with her strong vocal performance, makes her concerts an immersive experience.

There are moments where she pauses between songs to speak candidly with her fans, offering insights into her songwriting process or reflecting on her journey as an artist, further strengthening the bond with her audience.

What sets Olivia Rodrigo’s concerts apart is not just her vocal talent or stage presence, but her authenticity. Despite her young age, Rodrigo has built a reputation for being remarkably open and genuine, qualities that come through in her live performances.

Fans leave her concerts feeling as though they’ve shared something deeply personal with her, forging a connection that extends beyond the music. Whether it’s through the cathartic release of a breakup anthem or the vulnerable storytelling of a ballad.

Olivia Rodrigo’s concerts are more than just performances—they are emotional experiences that resonate long after the lights go down.

She also aligned this with the celebration of World Teachers’ Day as a way of honoring our beloved female teachers. This is a significant event, not only for women but also for the broader societal change where men have often held a higher position than women.

On October 5, 2024, the World Tour will take place, and it is expected to have not just high ticket sales but also demonstrate how we Filipinos support Women Empowerment.

Many Filipinos are excited and eager to attend the concert, not only because of their support for the famous singer but also because it is a way to show that they stand with her in advocating for Gender Equality and Equity.

The excitement and enthusiasm expressed by Filipinos only strengthen Olivia Rodrigo’s commitment to her cause—fighting against the outdated perceptions between men and women. “You are a woman, not just a woman,” is a testament that whether you are a man or a woman, your role in society is equally important.
