Eleuterio Timbol recently received the prestigious 2024 SLOAN Award for Outstanding Teaching in Science and Mathematics. According to the Fund for the City of New York’s website, the award honors educators who demonstrate remarkable commitment to developing their students’ potential in these fields. Timbol was among this year’s honorees.
“These educators achieve exceptional results while inspiring students to excel in science and mathematics and pursue careers in related fields,” the organization stated.
Timbol was praised for organizing summer exchange programs for Filipino-American educators to the Philippines, fostering educational growth and collaboration between the two countries.
He is also actively involved in professional organizations such as the Association of Filipino-American Teachers of America and the Association of Filipino Teachers in Eastern America.

No stranger to accolades, Timbol was previously honored with the Governor’s Empire State Excellence in Teaching Award in 2022, which recognized 54 exemplary public school teachers across New York State.
Born and raised in the Philippines as one of nine siblings to a homemaker and a mechanic, Timbol now teaches at the High School for Law Enforcement and Public Safety. His journey serves as an inspiration, demonstrating how passion, perseverance, and commitment can break barriers and lead to exceptional achievements in education.
As part of the award, Timbol received a cash prize of $5,000.
