Age is not important in finishing studies because learning is a lifelong process. Education should be accessible to everyone, regardless of age, as it provides opportunities for personal growth, skill development, and self-improvement. Whether you’re a child or an adult, the desire to learn and the determination to achieve educational goals are what truly matter.

Many people pursue studies later in life for various reasons—career changes, personal fulfillment, or the need to adapt to evolving job markets. The pursuit of knowledge is a personal journey, and age should never be a barrier to reaching one’s educational aspirations. Education empowers individuals, regardless of age, to improve their quality of life, contribute to society, and inspire others with their commitment to learning.

Just like the seventy-two-year-old Nicolas “Rody” Sucgang, a resident of Batan, Aklan, proved that “Age is just a number” after marching on stage to receive his Senior High School diploma.

According to a Facebook post by Teacher Carmen Selorio, individuals like Nicolas, who is under the TVL Track, Agri-Fishery Arts Strand specializing in Aquaculture at Napti Integrated School, are truly inspiring.

“Age is just a number… for education it doesn’t matter,” it can be read in her caption.

In an interview with Evan C. Regalado, the principal of the school, he shared that Nicolas truly demonstrated perseverance in completing his studies.

“Nong Rudy, as we fondly called him, is a former student of Kalantiaw Institute who wants to pursue his studies in senior high school,” he said.

“He really wants to finish his secondary education. I endorsed him to his present adviser, ma’am Erra M. Dalida, teacher adviser of grade 12. He diligently attended to his studies,” he added.

The NIS Supreme Secondary Learners Government of their school also gave a message for him.

“Dear Tatay,”

“Congratulations on your remarkable achievement of graduating from senior high school! At 72, your journey is a testament to the power of perseverance, dedication, and the unyielding pursuit of knowledge. Your story is an inspiration to us all, showing that age is just a number and it is never too late to pursue our dreams and continue our education. Congratulations and God Bless, tatay!”

Congratulations, Tatay Rody!
