Internet connectivity and stability is definitely one of the most significant advancement to the innovating world of technology. A faster generation is also a more reliable generation than the previous ones.
5G or 5th Generation of mobile internet technology is a very advanced internet and is known for its much improved speed when downloading, uploading, to online video calls, playing devices and connecting to different devices.
5G is 100 times much quicker than the 4G or 4th Generation that even when the movies you download for minutes will turn into seconds when you are using the 5G internet.
It is also known for its latency where it has a very low latency compared to the 4G and 3G or the 3rd Generation of mobile internet technology. Latency defines the amount of time your device consumes to receive or send a signal to another device.
The 5G network is greatly appreciated because of its stability that there will be no delays even if you are in a crowded place even inside a mall, 5G can still have a signal that will surely help a lot of people.
As of 2024, 5G is used mostly in Smart Cities throughout the world wherein it manages the traffic lights and other public transportations that does not cause any delays or traffic.
It is also very vital to Health-care facilities where it was used for X-rays, providing connection on surgeries, and extra care for patients with the help of telemedicine.
In the Philippines, many experts, specifically researchers from the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) said that it will be a big challenge especially to a big country who lacks funds when it comes to infrastructures and the availability of radio frequencies on the whole country.
Security also might be a big concern to a country like the Philippines where a lot of network manipulators, hackers and data thefts are a risk. Strong necessary measures needs to be necessary.
5G sounds like a dream and a promising development that changes how we connect and unlocks many possibilities to live in any area throughout the country and is also a promising advancement to our lives so let’s hope that 5G infrastructures will also start in our country.
